The Story Behind the Design

Xishuangbanna Design - Kaya Sylvester

This design captures a moment frozen in laughter, nerves, and love — a playful echo of Kaya and Sylvester’s New Year in Xishuangbanna. They had touched down with curiosity in their pockets and mischief in their hearts.

Kaya wanted to try all the street food, but Sylvester hesitated — his stomach wasn’t as bold as hers. He watched her enjoy every bite, wishing he could join in, but even just seeing her light up was enough for him.

Then came the Thai massage — a first for both of them. Sylvester thought massages were supposed to be relaxing, but instead, he clenched his teeth through every twist and press, determined not to make a sound. Kaya laughed at his act. She knew. She always knew.

On New Year’s Eve, they dressed up in costume, wandered the glowing streets, and made the kind of memories that linger. At the stroke of midnight, fireworks lit up the sky — bursts of light marking a new year, a new chapter, with her by his side.

This illustration of the scooter shoot encapsulates everything they experienced in Xishuangbanna — the thrill, the laughter, the tenderness. Kaya, ever the daredevil, wanted to drive, but the moment she took off like lightning, Sylvester panicked.

So they switched roles and settled on a photo instead: her in the sidecar, him at the handlebar, caught mid-gaze — the kind of look you give someone when time slows down for a second.

Because sometimes love looks like holding back a scream during a painful massage. Sometimes, it’s just posing with a scooter instead of riding it. And sometimes, it’s simply about being beside her — even when he couldn’t eat the same food.

Because being with her — just being with her — was everything.
